The trade opportunity system is a digital tool designed to help businesses identify and analyse the initial trade opportunities identified in the first phase of the project. The platform connects suppliers with industrial buyers across different regions and highlights the trade routes which have been mapped. It focuses on four key areas which are: automotive parts, packaging, agro-processing, and textiles. The primary aim is to help businesses reduce reliance on expensive overseas imports by finding reliable, high-quality alternatives right here on the continent. This platform makes cross-border trade more practical by simplifying the logistics and regulations involved (please also see the Corrective Action Framework below). It factors in the rules of the African Continental Free Trade Area to help stakeholders understand how to move products between countries in a cost effective manner. To use the system, you simply select your industry and the specific economic zones you want to look at using the filters. When you find a match of interest, you can view a trade feasibility report. This report provides a suggested transport route, estimated transit times, and a brief overview of the certifications required for that product. It also outlines potential challenges and offers practical solutions, giving you a clear roadmap for a successful trade partnership.
